OUR ACTIVITIES

Opportunities to learn

  • We host weekly lectures on topics related to self-knowledge and the application of spiritualist viewpoints to increase our self-awareness and our ability to develop our potential to be in peace and to have a fulfilling life.

  • We support spiritist and spiritualist lecturers visiting Southern California, such as Divaldo Franco and Haroldo Dutra Dias (under the coordination of the US Spiritist Council).

  • We offer weekly services within the framework of Umbanda, an Afro-Brazilian religion widely popular in Brazil but with little representation in the US. These services are held in Portuguese and in English, where we welcome at no cost members of the Brazilian community as well as all others who are interested in joining and learning with us. Such activities provide a connection to the cultural and spiritual roots of many, as well as a presentation of a philosophy of well-being based on the expression of love.

Opportunities to create and express ourselves

  •  We believe in the power of art to give us a voice and to allow us to identify beauty in ourselves and in others. Over the years, we have supported art projects in our community (e.g. Open floor society) and in Brazil (e.g. Escola Municipal).

  • We have developed our own art projects for the involvement of our members and others in our community, such as plays, multiple musical presentations, and a vocal group (Coral Áláfíà). Our vocal group of volunteers has already presented twice with local musicians at the Barnsdall Theater in Hollywood for an audience of 300+ in our fundraising events!

Opportunities to serve

  •  It is often in serving others that we realize our potential to make a positive difference in the world and in our lives. We have supported or currently support, with financial donations resulting from volunteer-based fundraising events, donations of food, or other material donations, and/or with our volunteer work multiple organizations and projects that share our values and that contribute to our local communities and beyond, including:

Mansão do Caminho (in Salvador, Brazil)
